Last week we won a prize in our Attendance Recognition Classopoly! We won community chest which meant that we could choose our own prize. The children chose to have a film afternoon with snacks!

¡Hola! Year 3 had an exciting week with the OPAL play afternoon. Today was also European Day of Languages, where we learnt how to greet each other, say how we feel, say goodbye in Spanish, and learnt a flamenco dance. ¡Olé!

Congratulations to all of our learning heroes who we celebrated in our final celebration assembly of the 2024-25 academic year!
Our pupils know just how valuable every moment in school is! Leo W Y4 shared that missing school would’ve meant missing out on his reading assessments—he’s proud of the progress he’s made and didn’t want to lose that momentum. Meanwhile, Lyra Y1 has been loving her interactive Maths lessons, especially counting confidently to 100, and Oliver YR has been fully immersed in Rocket Phonics, soaring through his sounds and stories. Learning, laughter, and progress—it’s all happening right here, every single day! #missschool #missout

For our attendance prize, we won a STEM day! We had a fantastic time exploring different scenes on the VR headsets, creating tracks for Indy spheros and using IPads to create code in scratch.

Year 1 won the attendance recognition prize and so were able to role the dice on our Classopoly board. We were really lucky to win a prize of our choice and as a class we decided on a movie and popcorn!
Thank you again to @Tesco for providing us with funding for daily fruit and veg for our children to enjoy. Fruit is available at break time and lunch time and if there is anything left, children (only) can help themselves to a piece of fruit for the way home/extra-curricular clubs. Children are having the options of at least 12 different types of fruit each day including: melon, watermelon, grapes, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, apples, bananas, tangerines, mango, pineapple, nectarines, plums, pears #StrongerStarts #fiveaday
Y5 Parents & Carers – Our parent/carer meeting to discuss the Y6 London residential is organised for 9am on Thursday 30th January. We will be discussing itinerary, costs and payment plans. We hope to see you there.

Thank you for your love and support throughout 2024. It has been an incredible year for Roby Park.
Christmas is not about what is under the tree but who is around it and we can’t wait for the children to return to tell us all about it. Rarely they mention gifts, they mention you. They share their cherished memories of pj days snuggled on the sofa watching movies and eating only chocolate or funny stories of things that happened with their loved ones

Children will get their challenges signed off by their Duke Leaders and earn 10 points per challenge plus an additional 100 points when they have completed all 7 challenges. That is an incredible 170 points in total for them and their team!

Our golden wellie award went to a child in year 2 this week who has been a kind friend and gone out of her way to make sure people aren’t left out at playtimes. Well done!

Year 4 tuned in this morning with #BBCLiveLessons for #Antibullyingweek2024. This year’s theme is all about choosing respect; we thought about how we should treat others and how to deal with conflict with respect. We then created an acrostic poem about respect.

Nursery have been so busy during half term! We worked on our speaking and listening skills by telling our friends what we have been up to. Lots of us went trick or treating for Halloween, some of us went to the park, the shops and even the beach.
Wow our free fruit has been exceptionally popular this week. The children have devoured:

The feedback has been so positive and children are saying it is the favourite part of their day

Umbrella Project. From the ADHD foundation website: The Neurodiversity Umbrella Project is an uplifting visual representation of all the different minds we have here in the UK. Every Umbrella Project installation helps to raise awareness and understanding of neurodiversity. Thousands of colourful umbrellas are strung together over public spaces, in schools, and in company buildings around the nation. Each display is designed to represent the one in five of us who have a neurodevelopmental condition, such as ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia or Tourette’s syndrome. Today we had a fantastic visit from Dr Culshaw @The_ONR who is a Nuclear Safety Inspector. He brought along a decommissioned graphite core sample, which we all had the opportunity to look at and he told us all about the types nuclear fusion we use in the UK #RPCareersweek

Today we have had a visit from the lovely Rachel, who is a journalist. She discussed her personal journey towards her career, along with the positives and negatives of the job. We loved asking her questions about who she has interviewed!

Y2 loved meeting @MerPolMounted. The children had many great questions & we learnt how vets use teeth to find out the age of the horses. One child said, “I’d like to be a mounted police officer because they use horses to keep people safe & that must be rewarding.” #RPCareers

We started the day with a visit from @LFCFoundation. We discussed the number of careers linked to football as well as how STEM can lead us into different jobs. We created mini rockets to practice our engineering skills.

Summer camp places can now be booked on Parent Pay. Sessions run from 9am – 3pm and cost just £12.50 per child, per day. Summer camp runs from Monday 22nd July – Friday 9th August. Children need to bring with them a coat, packed lunch, snack and water bottle.
Our Summer Fair is back this Friday 1-4pm! Children can wear their own clothes to school. Purchase your tickets on Parent Pay and collect your wristbands from the office for priority access. Join us for fun in the sun…

On Monday through to Thursday, we wish all of our Y6 children the best of luck as they sit their SATs. We know all of our children will try their best and that is all we ask for. But remember, SATs don’t measure who you really are
Please make sure children are wearing factor 50 sun cream when the weather is predicted to be hot. Please leave jumpers/cardigans off. Children need a water bottle to stay hydrated & a hat to protect them from the sun. Children will be encouraged to play in shaded areas
Our Summer Fair is back on Friday 21st June @ 1-4pm! Tickets will be available on Parent Pay from tomorrow. Entry will cost £2.50 and wristbands given out. Join us for fun in the sun… School will finish at 12.45pm on the day so all children can attend with their families.

Thank you to our HSA & our staff for making Easter happen at Roby Park. They’ve collected Easter eggs & organised an Easter Egg Hunt that the children thoroughly enjoyed. Our Easter discos were a great success also & today there will be visitors to class with more egg surprises
We had a fantastic last session! We worked with partners to plant some pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. The children have been fantastic this half term and have loved gardening club with Mr Lyon! We can’t wait to see it all begin to grow!
