Y3 have PE on Wednesday. Children wear their complimentary Roby Park PE kit to school – white logo tshirt, navy joggers and jacket. In the warmer months, children may want to wear their burgundy shorts.
Reading Books
Children are allocated multiple books weekly on Rising Stars Reading Planet as well as a physical book which is changed weekly, linked to their stage of Reading. Physical books are changed every Monday. We expect children to read for 10 minutes every night and then to complete the end of book comprehension quiz online when they come to the end of their book. You can access Reading Planet here.
Home Learning
Children are to read for 10 minutes per night and bring their reading log in everyday, signed by an adult.
Spelling and times table home learning will be set on a Monday via Emile and should be completed by Monday.

In History, we looked at the role of Ancient Egyptian scribes. One of our tasks was to decode and write our own hieroglyphics and we realised just how difficult the ancient language was! #RPHistory
We promoted the British Value of democracy and tolerance through our smart school council lesson. We looked at the different ways our OPAL playtime is improving our school. We voted and debated about which option was the best.

In Computing, we developed our video editing skills to make Book Trailers for some of our favourite books. We used clipping, transitions, voiceovers and different camera angles to engage our audiences! #RPComputing
Today we had an amazing time launching our new @OPAL_CIC resources. We climbed, made mud potions, played with small world pieces, used a parachute, built obstacle courses and more. We can’t wait to use these every day! #RPEnrichment

To launch all of our exciting new @OPAL_CIC resources, we are going to host a launch day this Mon for the chn. All chn need to come in to school wearing their PE kits and trainers, with their wellies also to keep in school. Children are only allowed on the field with wellies.

Thank you to our HSA & our staff for making Easter happen at Roby Park. They’ve collected Easter eggs & organised an Easter Egg Hunt that the children thoroughly enjoyed. Our Easter discos were a great success also & today there will be visitors to class with more egg surprises
After tasting our potential ingredients yesterday, today we made our seasonal food tarts. We used our learned chopping skills and our designs to create some tasty treats that smelled amazing once they came out of the oven! #RPDT

During Computing Day, we have been looking at the journey inside of a computer! We investigated the different components inside of a computer, performed algorithms as the CPU and GPU and looked at tablet devices too. #RPComputing
As a part of #WorldBookDay2024 , we had the amazing @WestEndinSchool who allowed us to explore the play Twelfth Night. We created different freeze frames and acted out an important scene as a class.
During #WorldWildlifeDay2024 we sorted food chains, made our own and considered what can happen when a food chain is disrupted. We discovered the dangers on the food chain if animals go extinct, and how all different food chains are dependent on each other.
Our Easter Holiday Club is back for YR-Y6, running from 2nd-12th April. Sessions run from 9.00-3.00pm and cost £12.50 per day. Children need to bring a packed lunch, water bottle and raincoat. Select your days and make payment on Parent Pay #RPEnrichment

In Science, we created shadow puppets to investigate how the size and shape of a shadow can change. We used a torch and moved our puppets closer and further away to change the size of our shadows. #RPScience

Mr Couling kindly organised visits to Whitestone Lodge & St Bart’s Nursing Home where our children sang festive songs, chatted & played with residents. We look forward to our next visit next term. We wish all the residents a very merry Christmas

Year 3 have had so much fun making their pneumatic toys. We made lots of animals including some crocodiles, dogs, turtles and even a Pudsey bear! We have definitely learnt that air has the power to make something move!

In our @ELITE_Swim_UK swimming lesson today, we worked to begin to swim front crawl across the pool. We also practiced the life-saving skill of floating on our backs, both with a float and in the star shape with no float. Year 3 are gaining so much confidence! #RPPE

Tomorrow is our annual @RockKidzUK Day which will be teaching the children a positive message about mental health, self esteem and wellbeing, Children can come dressed as rock stars or if they do not want to dress up they can wear their own clothes or uniform.
In Forest School today, Year 3 had great fun working on their map reading skills to find different locations and symbols, gathering wood, identifying different leaves from different trees and working on their fire-lighting skills.
In Art this week, we practiced our shading, smudging, cross hatching and line drawing using different sketching pencils and charcoal to then apply onto our own self-portraits!

Today we celebrated #EuropeanDayofLanguages! Year 3 enjoyed working on their @LanguageAngels_ Early Language including Spanish numbers and colours, followed by creating self-portraits in the style of Picasso’s blue period.
