WOW! What a great first swimming lesson we had today! Nursery loved exploring the water and gaining confidence when learning to float and move around! They were all very brave and showed great resilience! They are very excited for next week’s session @ELITE_Swim_UK

In Forest School today, Year 3 had great fun working on their map reading skills to find different locations and symbols, gathering wood, identifying different leaves from different trees and working on their fire-lighting skills.

Everyday @RobyParkSchool is memorable but  in a pool on the playground is unforgettable. Thanks to @ELITE_Swim_UK Y2 built confidence in the water by floating on their backs and putting their faces in the water. They played lots of games and had fun!

In music today with @JuniorJamHQ, the children were introduced to the different notes on a keyboard and how they can move/change fingers to play the different notes. We can’t wait to develop our keyboard skills

We had a special @HelpPicture this week. We looked at how poppies have changed over time. Children think it’s a great idea that poppies will now be plastic free. We also enjoyed talking about which materials would be best for poppies last longer.

Year 3 have had so much fun making their pneumatic toys. We made lots of animals including some crocodiles, dogs, turtles and even a Pudsey bear! We have definitely learnt that air has the power to make something move!

What a fantastic night for our EYFS Star Gazing Night Walk  We spotted lots of stars in the sky, the moon and even Jupiter! The children loved exploring forest school in the dark and we discussed what we found. We ended the night with a lovely hot chocolate  #RPEnrichment

This week in Science, we have been exploring electricity. We created simple circuits to begin with, then moved onto changing variables and monitoring voltage. We also explored how to fix broken circuits, as well as creating a set of traffic lights.

Last week we explored our topic of ‘Light and Dark’  We used our dark tent to find out which objects could be seen in the dark. We then discussed space and created a collaborative night sky with brightly coloured planets   #RPEYFS #RPUnderstandingTheWorld

For our final session, children practiced putting their heads under water to blow bubbles. They had to hold on to the side and use their legs to push away, building strength and confidence in the water.

Reception had a fantastic session with  @Littlefoothq today. We started with a fun game, we had to collect all of the ropes and defend the base. Then we tied knots and showed resilience moving and untying the knots. #RPEnrichment

Winter Wonderland Event

Residential Home Visits

Mr Couling kindly organised visits to Whitestone Lodge & St Bart’s Nursing Home where our children sang festive songs, chatted & played with residents. We look forward to our next visit next term. We wish all the residents a very merry Christmas

In Computing, we worked on our emailing skills. We began by composing and sending simple emails and getting used to the inbox and drafts features. Then, we were able to add attachments to our emails for the recipient to view. #RPComputing

Goalball Competition Winners

This week we took part in our first ever goal-ball competition. The children really enjoyed trying a new sport and were so happy to win the competition and show their medals off back at school. Big thanks to @KnowsleySSP for organising such a fantastic event.

Year 5 had an amazing day at Liverpool’s Maritime museum. The children consolidated their knowledge on The Battle of the Atlantic. It was fantastic to hear them make connections across their learning. #RPHistory #RPEnrichment

Y6 Forest School

Today in forest school, we practiced knots which could secure a shelter in the wind, practiced compass points using the school grounds and worked on team building shelter activities. #RPForestschool

YN Maths

In Maths this week we have been exploring the number 2. We have been counting 2, finding 2, recognising 2 and writing 2! The children have shown great motivation and resilience!  #RPMaths

YR Maths

This week in maths we have been exploring numbers within 10. Children have counted objects carefully and continued to explore the part whole method to explore the composition of numbers. #RPMaths

Y4 Science

In Science, the children investigated how the volume of sound changes as they get further away from a sound source. They carried out this investigation by playing some music through a speaker and measuring the volume of sound using a decibel meter on the iPads #RPScience

YR Forest School

Children worked collaboratively and made a bridge using sticks. They enjoyed sitting around the fire and using their senses to describe what they could see, hear and smell. The most exciting part was relaxing in the hammocks.

Phonics Workshops

We were joined by our wonderful families for our phonics workshop today. We shared the exciting Rocket Phonics resources our children use in school. We modelled a short lesson and children loved reading with their grown ups. #RPReading #RPPhonics
