Today we had a special visit from @AlldaysFarm and had the chance to hold, pet, feed and brush a pony, sheep, goats, chickens, a chinchilla and even a snake! all the children were very brave and gentle with the all of the animals. Well done year 1? @CAHKnowsley #RPEnrichment

FOREST SCHOOL ?

FOREST SCHOOL ? We learnt how to do overhand knots, matched natural objects to colour swatches, practiced letters and numbers with rope and finally collected natural objects to make our very own magic wands! ??? #REEnrichment

Recreating scenes from the book ‘Old Bear’?

We worked together to recreate scenes from the book ‘Old Bear’, using what we have already read to show how the characters may be feeling and what they would be doing. We even rescued Old Bear from high up in the classroom and were very excited!?

SPANISH DAY Today was a day of all things Spanish! We learnt colours and numbers, played interactive games, matched colours with words, danced, sang, drew self portraits in the style of Picasso and even completed spanish colour by numbers! ? @LanguageAngels_ #RPSpanish

A massive thank you to 4 times Olympic Medalist @BeckAdlington who visited us today to highlight the importance of learning how to swim. We were able to hold & see her medals and have the opportunity to ask lots of questions about the Olympics and also her swimming career ?

Our workshop with @AnimalsTakeOver today allowed us to meet and hold some of the animals we have been learning about in science -amphibians, birds, reptiles and mammals! We spoke about their habitats, diets and sleeping habits too!????? #RPScience #RPEnrichment

In art we have been looking at different types of line, shapes and also colour. Starting with shape, we then moved onto lines and then combined our learning to create abstract art made up of overlapping shapes, colour and a variety of lines!

Tomorrow is our annual @RockKidzUK Day which will be teaching the children a positive message about mental health, self esteem and wellbeing, Children can come dressed as rock stars or if they do not want to dress up they can wear their own clothes or uniform.

Y1 Assembly

Winter Wonderland Event

Residential Home Visits

Mr Couling kindly organised visits to Whitestone Lodge & St Bart’s Nursing Home where our children sang festive songs, chatted & played with residents. We look forward to our next visit next term. We wish all the residents a very merry Christmas

What a fantastic show at @TheatreRoyalStH! The children thoroughly enjoyed Aladdin. Our children always make us proud with their exceptional behaviour! Well done!

We looked at algorithms in computing – starting with inputs and outputs before decomposing instructions to see the importance of these being in the correct order to get the right result. We then followed an algorithm correcting any bugs along the way! #RPComputing

In history we are looking at the monarchy. Today we began discussing chronology and then used base ten to represent the ages of some of the Royal family that we have been learning about. This helped us to see who has been alive for longer!   #RPHistory @SI_Liverpool

Y1 Snow Fun

We absolutely LOVED spending some time on the field in the snow today!  We built snowman, made snow angels, threw snowballs at the teachers but most importantly had lots of fun playing with our friends!

Phonics Workshops

We were joined by our wonderful families for our phonics workshop today. We shared the exciting Rocket Phonics resources our children use in school. We modelled a short lesson and children loved reading with their grown ups. #RPReading #RPPhonics

We have being look at seasonal changes in science and have been recording rainfall over the past few weeks. Today we used the data that we had collected to create a graph so we could see which weeks had the most and which had the least rainfall

Today we had our latest @SSCCTY meeting. As it is national story telling week, we discussed how we could encourage more reading during the school day. Through discussion, each group could then cast a vote to contribute towards the whole school results! #SmartSchoolCouncil

We had a fantastic session with @Littlefoothq this week – working collaboratively to build hammocks from sticks, building hammocks between trees we could spend some time in with friends and then showed our resilience when working on our knot tying skills. Well done year 1

We are making smoothies in DT but before we can we needed to explore fruits and veg! We were surprised to find that some foods we thought were vegetables are actually fruits and we know this because they have seeds! After we grouped the foods, we tried some too!

Y1 World Wildlife Day

We discussed animals that live in our oceans as part of #WorldWildlifeDay & some asked how big some of the animals were. So, along with  @Year2RobyPark we did some research and used ourselves to make the length of blue whales and orca. We were amazed at their size!

For forest school with @Littfoothq we had to build structures that were strong enough to withstand challenges of Joe trying to knock them down. We discovered that the strongest towers aren’t always the tallest and need a really strong base!  #RPEnrichment

We have been so busy getting ready for the upcoming term that we couldn’t wait to share with you feedback from our

OPAL Day – Mon 15th April

To launch all of our exciting new @OPAL_CIC resources, we are going to host a launch day this Mon for the chn. All chn need to come in to school wearing their PE kits and trainers, with their wellies also to keep in school. Children are only allowed on the field with wellies.

We are excited to see all of the chn back for an exciting start of term tomorrow. Doors open at 8.40am. Just a polite reminder to send chn into school in their school PE tracksuit, trainers and warm coat for our @OPAL_CIC launch day tomorrow.

KS1 Spanish Club

Today we had our first KS1 Spanish extra-curricular club. With the help of Language Angels Lucy, we looked at the unit En la selva – learning animals, playing spot the wrong animal part & singing a song before doing some colouring! #RPExtraCurricular #RPSpanish

We have begun looking at plants in science. We revisited what we already know and created a storyboard of how to plant seeds. We were then were able to plant our own using these…we don’t know what our seeds will grow into yet but we are excited to find out!

We have been focusing on the end of our story ‘The Secret of Black Rock’ and considering how Erin may have felt when none of the adults believed her that Black Rock was a sea creature! We created freeze frames showing the characters feelings

We were very lucky to have had a little surprise treat this morning…some time spent on year 6’s end of SATs inflatables! Happy faces all round – what a fantastic way to end the week. One of our children said “This has been my favourite day ever!”#RPEnrichment

Our @SSCCTY meetings are pupil led and so this was a perfect chance to find out what they would like the reward to be for the house with the most house points and to share all of their ideas! Lots wanted bouncy castles but Taylor Swift and water parks were suggestions too!

Million Steps Challenge Competition Winners

We used sketchpad to insert text boxes to create a list of materials we would need to make a rocket we could then launch to be able to record the distances they travel in a spreadsheet. After this we created our rocket designs and used click and drag to label them!

Careers Week

Check out our Careers Week plans with more visitors to be added… Aspirations Day will take place on Friday 28th June and children can come dressed as something they want to be or do when they are older. #RPPSHE #RPPERSONALDEVELOPMENT

Y1 End of Year Class Trip

We have had a fantastic day at @Smithillsfarm today. Benji took us around and we were able to feed & meet the animals, watch the cows being milked, enjoy donkey rides & tractor rides to feed the animals! One of the children said “I’m having the best day ever!”  #RPEnrichment

Summer Fair

Our Summer Fair is back this Friday 1-4pm! Children can wear their own clothes to school. Purchase your tickets on Parent Pay and collect your wristbands from the office for priority access. Join us for fun in the sun…

• Meet and greets with unicorn ponies
• Birds of prey display
• Inflatables
• Fair rides
• Stalls
• Princesses
• Face painting
• Food & drink

School will finish at 12.45pm on the day so all children can attend with their families.

EYFS children should be collected from the Easton Road gate and KS1 & KS2 from their Western Avenue exits. All children and families should make their way around to Easton Rd for entry to the fair. All children are to be supervised by their adults.

Summer Holiday Camp

Summer camp places can now be booked on Parent Pay. Sessions run from 9am – 3pm and cost just £12.50 per child, per day. Summer camp runs from Monday 22nd July – Friday 9th August. Children need to bring with them a coat, packed lunch, snack and water bottle.

A huge thankyou to @MerPolKnowsley & @MerseyPolice who visited us for careers week this morning and told us all about their jobs and answered lots of questions for us! We were lucky enough to sit on their bikes, turn on the sirens and see what’s it’s like in the back of a van!

A big thankyou to @RobertsRecycle who paid us a little visit to tell us all about their company! We learnt all about their business and how it started, what they do day to day to support recycling and spoke about what the best thing about being a business owner is! #RPCareersWeek

We LOVED our visit from @MerPolMounted today for careers week! We learnt that you don’t already have to be a rider to become mounted police, how to become a mounted officer, how valuable horses are to the police force and what the best part of the officers job is! #RPCareersWeek

Y1 Class Trip

We had such a great day at Laurel’s Wood today. We climbed trees, worked collaboratively and showed resilience while using a saw to cut bamboo to make necklaces, made a fire, toasted marshmallows & even had a go on the rope swing! #RPEnrichment

Y1 OPAL Parent Play Session

Another fantastic afternoon of @OPAL_CIC play with our adults! Our new OPAL playtimes allow us more opportunities for independence, building resilience making new friends across school, team building, collaborative and imaginative play & lots of laughter!

Y1 Reading

We love reading in Year 1 so much that we have started getting excited and enthusiastic to read stories to our whole class! Well done for showing resilience, confidence and displaying your love for reading – we are very proud of you! #RPReading

Star of the Year Awards 2024

Today we had our final celebration assembly of the year, where our Stars of the Year awards were given out. Well done to everybody nominated!

We have lots of surplus uniform in our uniform swap shop. Please help yourself save money and reduce preloved uniform going into landfill

Y1 Olympic Workshop

We had a brilliant Olympic dance workshop with @educationgroup. We focused on Spain and came to school wearing Spanish colours before learning some Spanish style dancing!  #RPEnrichment #Olympics

Y1 Science

We have been looking at materials and their properties in our final science unit and ended with designing three outfits for different weather conditions. We needed to ensure we considered the materials we would need to make the outfits suitable! #RPScience

Y1 Forest School

Today we had our celebratory forest school session when we were awarded our certificates for our fantastic achievements this past year as well as celebration marshmallows on the fire!

Extra-curricular Clubs

Our extra-curricular clubs go live tomorrow at 8am on Parent Booking. Clubs run from 3-4pm and children should be collected via the Easton Road gate. Please make sure they have trainers with them in a bag, if needed. There will be no clubs on: 12.9.24, 2.10.24, 9.10.24
