Spanish Day in Reception

Spanish Day Reception had a wonderful day singing, dancing and learning lots of new words. We counted to 10, learned head, shoulders, knees and toes, painted the flag and we even tried mini churros. #EuropeanDayofLanguages

We had a very exciting visit from @AnimalsTakeOver today. We had the opportunity to meet and hold some amazing animals. We met a bearded dragon, owl, mouse, frog, snake and a hedgehog. We really enjoyed it and Reception were very brave! ? ? ? ? #RPEnrichment #RPScience

We loved our @HelpPicture this morning, we have lots of special places including school, our homes, holidays, parks and beaches. We could not believe what happened to this beautiful tree, some children have drawn pictures to show that we should be looking after trees.

FOREST SCHOOL ? Reception had a great day yesterday, making different shapes and knots with the rope. We also had to make our way through the rope obstacle course and we finished off by learning how to make a fire ? #RPEnrichment

Halloween Disco ?

Halloween Disco ? We had a fantastic time at the disco, singing and dancing with our friends. We enjoyed some tasty snacks and had lots of fun with the glow sticks. #RPEnrichment

YR Picture News

In this weeks @HelpPicture children felt that speed limits should be reduced, especially outside schools.They said going too fast might cause you to miss a red light or to injure somebody. We even made some signs to encourage drivers to slow down.

YR Maths

In maths this week we have been comparing amounts using the vocabulary more and fewer. We had a dilemma while making our fruit skewers, there wasn’t enough of each item for everyone. We compared amounts and even did some great subitising. #RPMaths

We have really enjoyed our pumpkin fine motor skills activity this week, we had to be very careful using the hammer. It took a lot of concentration but Reception did a great job and showed lots of resilience and motivation. #RPEYFS

What a fantastic first swimming lesson Reception had. We loved exploring the water, floating and finding spaces by using our arms and legs. We are already so excited for next week.

Rock Kidz – Fri 10th Nov

Tomorrow is our annual @RockKidzUK Day which will be teaching the children a positive message about mental health, self esteem and wellbeing, Children can come dressed as rock stars or if they do not want to dress up they can wear their own clothes or uniform.

Cut Your Carbon

We are taking part in CUT YOUR CARBON this November. Children will be coming home with checklists they can use to work as a family to cut carbon. Those who return their checklist will receive a certificate! @EcoSchools

Swimming Extension

This Friday we are raising money for NSPCC. We will be collecting £1 donations and children can wear clothes with numbers on or patterns. We will also be hosting a cake sale after school, on the main playground

YR Maths

This week in maths we have been exploring numbers within 10. Children have counted objects carefully and continued to explore the part whole method to explore the composition of numbers. #RPMaths

YR Forest School

Children worked collaboratively and made a bridge using sticks. They enjoyed sitting around the fire and using their senses to describe what they could see, hear and smell. The most exciting part was relaxing in the hammocks.

Phonics Workshops

We were joined by our wonderful families for our phonics workshop today. We shared the exciting Rocket Phonics resources our children use in school. We modelled a short lesson and children loved reading with their grown ups. #RPReading #RPPhonics

We welcomed our R – Y2 families today for a phonics workshop to demonstrate how phonics is taught at Roby Park. We modelled lessons to show how these look, provided resources to use at home and shared the fantastic resources our children have in school!

This week Nursery and Reception worked collaboratively to create this amazing superhero city! They all worked very hard and supported each other. They made sure to include people, towers, trees, vehicles and obviously some superheroes!

Today we dressed up as superheroes and trained to be a superhero on our obstacle course! We had some fantastic superheroes including Hulk, Iron Man and a paramedic! We ended the day with an ice cream to celebrate our hard work as superheroes! #RPEnrichment

YR Hand Hygiene

We had a hand washing session today. We learnt about good and bad germs, how we keep our hands clean and the best technique for washing hands. Children loved seeing the germs on their hands and how they disappeared after washing.

In PE our aim was to follow instructions and move safely when playing tagging games.

EYFS Gardening Club

Today we have taken part in some digging and planting. We helped Mr Lyon dig out all of the weeds and then we learnt how to plant some potatoes! The children did a fantastic job at digging out their trenches for their potatoes!

Reception started the morning with a fantastic session with @Littlefoothq. We had to search for bugs and work collaboratively. Then we practised making our own fires using stones and sticks. We had a real fire and practised using the fire lighters. #RPEnrichment

YR Science Week

This afternoon we had a visit from @sublimescience. We got to see how acetone can break down a polystyrene cup. We explored different instruments, including one you make with a straw! Reception had a fantastic time learning lots of new vocabulary and facts. #RPScience

EYFS Gardening Club

We had a fantastic last session! We worked with partners to plant some pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. The children have been fantastic this half term and have loved gardening club with Mr Lyon! We can’t wait to see it all begin to grow!

Thank you to our HSA & our staff for making Easter happen at Roby Park. They’ve collected Easter eggs & organised an Easter Egg Hunt that the children thoroughly enjoyed. Our Easter discos were a great success also & today there will be visitors to class with more egg surprises

OPAL Update

We have been so busy getting ready for the upcoming term that we couldn’t wait to share with you feedback from our

OPAL Day – Mon 15th April

To launch all of our exciting new @OPAL_CIC resources, we are going to host a launch day this Mon for the chn. All chn need to come in to school wearing their PE kits and trainers, with their wellies also to keep in school. Children are only allowed on the field with wellies.

We are excited to see all of the chn back for an exciting start of term tomorrow. Doors open at 8.40am. Just a polite reminder to send chn into school in their school PE tracksuit, trainers and warm coat for our @OPAL_CIC launch day tomorrow.

YR Maths

In maths this week we have been using a number track, practising counting on and adding numbers. We then challenged children to use both of those skills in continuous provision. We really loved that our maths was taken into the creative area to make a fashion game! #RPMaths

YR Picture News

Our @HelpPicture this week was one Reception could really relate to, they love being artist. We discussed leaving art in different places and how we value each other’s art. It links with our British Value of Respect and Tolerance.

What a fantastic start to the term. We explored all our new, amazing equipment. We talked about how to use equipment safely, and how we manage ourselves during play. The children had lots of fun!

Holidays  as we explore our topic this half term we have looked at different types of holiday. The children have made a camper van to travel to the beach. It even had a fridge inside! #RPEYFS

EYFS Craft Club

In craft club this week, we created a fish bowl with a moving fish. Children used a slider to enable the fish to move. They loved decorating the tank and showed great resilience with their cutting skills. #RPDT

YR Picture News Assembly

In @HelpPicture this morning, we discussed what the past is and how we find things out. Children suggested we could read books, look on the internet or talk to an adult. They were very intrigued with this weeks question.

Million Steps Challenge Competition Winners

As part of the Million Steps Challenge, @cashforkidsliv teamed up with publisher Simon & Schuster to offer all participating primary schools the chance to win a Library Pack of 20 books. YR End of Year Class Trip @ Farmer Ted’s

Reception had the most amazing time at @FarmerTedsFarm today. We met lots of animals, brushed the ponies, stroked different mini beasts and reptiles. We loved the tractor ride searching for dinosaurs and visiting the gift shop and play area. #RPEnrichment

Our final visit was from John, a chef at @DavidLloydUK. He told the children the best part of his job, the food he likes to cook and the strangest food he has eaten. Children loved sharing their ideas with John and the foods they enjoy. #RPEnrichment #RPCareers

YR Careers Week

We had a visit from Gemma today who is a personal trainer from @DavidLloydUK. She told us all about her role in the gym and the different jobs she does. Then she taught us some exercises and stretched that we can do to keep us fit and healthy. #RPEnrichment #RPCareers

We loved singing, dancing and enjoying games with Diane from Angels and Scallies @dically11. She explained why she got into entertainment and how she loves making people smile. We all had big smiles today  #RPEnrichment #RPCareers

A great visit from @MerseyPolice @MerPolKnowsley. Children spoke to traffic officers about their job and they let us sit on their motorbikes. Then we got to sit in the back of a police van and learn about the items police officers use every day. #RPEnrichment #RPCareers

We had a great final session with @Littlefoothq this afternoon. We reflected on our favourite forest school sessions and enjoyed some toasted marshmallows. Children are looking forward to sessions in year 1! #RPEnrichment
