What a fantastic first swimming lesson Reception had. We loved exploring the water, floating and finding spaces by using our arms and legs. We are already so excited for next week.

We had a special @HelpPicture this week. We looked at how poppies have changed over time. Children think it’s a great idea that poppies will now be plastic free. We also enjoyed talking about which materials would be best for poppies last longer.

What a fantastic night for our EYFS Star Gazing Night Walk  We spotted lots of stars in the sky, the moon and even Jupiter! The children loved exploring forest school in the dark and we discussed what we found. We ended the night with a lovely hot chocolate  #RPEnrichment

Class Christmas Parties

We had a fantastic forest school session with @Littlefoothq We went on a hunt to see who could find the most snakes and then had great fun using a technique to stay warm by cosying up underneath a shelter! We ended the day playing a game of predator and prey! #RPEnrichment

Swimming Extension

Thanks to the hard work & generosity of Cllr Walsh, who has secured us additional funding, we are able to have the swimming pool on site for an extra week! This means all children will be able to enjoy additional swimming lessons next week #RPPE #RPMakingMemories

This afternoon we had a visit from @sublimescience. We got to see how acetone can break down a polystyrene cup. We explored different instruments, including one you make with a straw! Reception had a fantastic time learning lots of new vocabulary and facts. #RPScience

Today we have been working on our digging skills. We worked really hard and supported each other to dig out all of the weeds, even the really big ones!

Wow! What a fantastic visit from @sublimescience. We enjoyed watching lots of different science experiments and exploring different instruments! We especially loved the smoke circles and bubbles! We were amazed, thank you!  #RPScience #RPEnrichment

We had a great session with @Littlefoothq. First we went on a bug hunt! We then showed great resilience through using our hand-eye coordination to carefully hammer nails into wood! We ended the session by collecting sticks for our own fire  #RPEnrichment

Today we have explored colour mixing.  We discussed what happens when we mix different colours together. We also talked about making colours lighter or darker! The children enjoyed exploring the different paints and creating their own colours!  #RPArt

EYFS Gardening Club

We had a fantastic last session! We worked with partners to plant some pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. The children have been fantastic this half term and have loved gardening club with Mr Lyon! We can’t wait to see it all begin to grow!

YN Forest School

Today we had a great session with @Littlefoothq. We learnt how to make a raft for our insect friends to float on. We placed it in a large puddle that we found and used bark from the trees for the insects to eat! We ended the session by safely warming our hands on our campfire

YN Easter Disco

Today we had a special visit from the Easter Bunny and Easter Chick!  They took us on a very exciting Easter egg hunt around the school grounds! We followed all of the clues and found our way to some yummy Easter eggs!  #RPEnrichment

Thank you to our HSA & our staff for making Easter happen at Roby Park. They’ve collected Easter eggs & organised an Easter Egg Hunt that the children thoroughly enjoyed. Our Easter discos were a great success also & today there will be visitors to class with more egg surprises

New Welly Stores Have Arrived!

All of our new welly stores and benches have been delivered and are in place, awaiting your child’s wellies! Please make sure your child has a labelled pair of wellies in school as of 15th April. Wellies will remain in school. Thank you.

After learning about the Easter story and discussing the importance of the cross, we sang our nursery rhyme of the week, ‘Hot Cross Buns’. We then tasted some yummy hot cross buns… we thought they were delicious!

OPAL Update

We have been so busy getting ready for the upcoming term that we couldn’t wait to share with you feedback from our

OPAL Day – Mon 15th April

To launch all of our exciting new @OPAL_CIC resources, we are going to host a launch day this Mon for the chn. All chn need to come in to school wearing their PE kits and trainers, with their wellies also to keep in school. Children are only allowed on the field with wellies.

We are excited to see all of the chn back for an exciting start of term tomorrow. Doors open at 8.40am. Just a polite reminder to send chn into school in their school PE tracksuit, trainers and warm coat for our @OPAL_CIC launch day tomorrow.

In maths this week we have been using a number track, practising counting on and adding numbers. We then challenged children to use both of those skills in continuous provision. We really loved that our maths was taken into the creative area to make a fashion game! #RPMaths

Million Steps Challenge Competition Winners

As part of the Million Steps Challenge, @cashforkidsliv teamed up with publisher Simon & Schuster to offer all participating primary schools the chance to win a Library Pack of 20 books. Nursery had the best time at @FarmerTedsFarm. We visited lots of animals, stroked some guinea pigs, took part in some pony grooming, met lots of minibeasts and enjoyed a tractor ride to see some dinosaurs! We ended the day with a play in the play area! #RPEnrichment

YR End of Year Class Trip @ Farmer Ted’s

Reception had the most amazing time at @FarmerTedsFarm today. We met lots of animals, brushed the ponies, stroked different mini beasts and reptiles. We loved the tractor ride searching for dinosaurs and visiting the gift shop and play area. #RPEnrichment

We had a fantastic visit from @MerseyPolice @MerPolKnowsley They told us all about their jobs and let us sit on their motorbikes, in their van and have a look at some equipment! We definitely have some police officers in the making in Nursery!  #RPCareers #RPEnrichment

Our final visit was from John, a chef at @DavidLloydUK. He told the children the best part of his job, the food he likes to cook and the strangest food he has eaten. Children loved sharing their ideas with John and the foods they enjoy. #RPEnrichment #RPCareers

We had a visit from Gemma today who is a personal trainer from @DavidLloydUK. She told us all about her role in the gym and the different jobs she does. Then she taught us some exercises and stretched that we can do to keep us fit and healthy. #RPEnrichment #RPCareers

We had a fantastic visit from @MerPolMounted who told us all about their role in the police! We loved learning all about the importance of police horses and how they become police horses! We found out that they have to be very very tall, a lot taller than us! #RPCareers

This week’s @HelpPicture news related to individual liberty. We discussed the question ‘what makes a good friend?’ We think that a good friend is someone who is kind, plays with you and makes you laugh! We then shared some kind things that we like about our friends in class!

This week we planted some sunflower seeds, just like Eddie from Eddie’s Garden!  We discussed what we needed to help them grow. We watered them and can’t wait to see them start to grow!  #RPEYFS #RPScience

To end careers week we dressed up as what we would like to be when we grow up!  We had lots of great aspirations including a surgeon, boxer, magician, train driver, hairdresser, footballers and even some princesses! #RPCareers #RPEnrichment

We had a fantastic last session of the year with @Littlefoothq. We collaboratively built shelters for our snakes, practised our rope skills, created a huge potion of beautiful flowers, and ended the session enjoying some popcorn together! We love Forest School! #RPEnrichment

Today we had our final celebration assembly of the year, where our Stars of the Year awards were given out. Well done to everybody nominated!
