Opening Schools’ Facilities Funding
Back in March 2023, the Government announced new and exciting funding programme ‘Opening Schools’ Facilities’. A £57 million investment programme to meet the goals of the Government’s School Sport and Activity Action Plan.
Opening Schools’ Facilities (OSF) aims to help schools to open their sport facilities for a broader range of young people and support community and sporting organisations to access facilities on school sites. The programme aims to enable schools to open their facilities beyond their current operating times to allow more pupils (and their families) to access opportunities to be physically active, with a focus on girls, culturally diverse and SEND young people.
Roby Park Primary School is proud to be a part of this initiative, opening our facilities for children and their families two evenings a week as part of our OPAL programme offer. Check out our OPAL page for more information on our how we are developing play at Roby Park.

Here is our new PE whole school curriculum overview:
Sport is central to achievement and effort is encouraged through team and individual games at school and through inter-school competitions and tournaments.
We believe that sport helps to build confidence and promotes our school values of excellence. In addition to this, all children have swimming lessons on our school site. Specialist instructors from MK Sports Academy, deliver small group swimming lessons for all children. Read more about it here: https://www.knowsleynews.co.uk/pop-up-pool-helping-pupils-learn-to-swim/
We offer a range of sports and encourage a life-long positive attitude towards healthy living and sport. As a school, through the Knowsley Schools Sports Partnership, pupils from Roby Park are able to attend and compete in a wide range of sporting competitions against other local schools. School offers a wide range of extra-curricular clubs each half term which equip our children with the skills to compete and excel in sporting competitions.
Pupils are encouraged to try a wide range of outward-bound activities during the Year 6 residential school trips. These can include climbing, abseiling, high ropes courses, challenge courses, raft building and archery.
We are privileged to have our own Sports Coach here at Roby Park who provides CPD support, character mentoring and mindfulness sessions, lunchtime supervision and extra-curricular clubs.

We have invested heavily into scooters through Scoot Fit. Our Scoot Fit school exercise and active travel programme is sustainable and will keep your children active and healthy. Find out more about Scoot Fit here.

We are fortunate enough to have secured significant funding from Sport England to invest into sports equipment which would supplement our curriculum and enable us to offer a wider range of extra-curricular clubs which include the involvement of parents.
