Medical & Health Information

Keeping pupils safe and well is our priority. Please let us know immediately if your child has any allergies (including food allergies) or any medical condition we should be aware of.

Medical conditions can be amended on the Arbor app by parents and carers. Please provide a copy of medical evidence at the school office so we can update our records.

If your child is diagnosed with an infectious illness – such as rubella, conjunctivitis, head lice, impetigo, measles, mumps or ringworm – please contact the school office straight away so we can take appropriate precautions.

Medication in School

If your child needs prescribed medication during the school day, this can be arranged through the school office. Parents/carers must: complete and sign the Permission to Administer Medicine in School form.

All medication must be in its original, labelled container with the child’s name, dosage and timing clearly stated.

Please hand medication directly to the office – children should not carry it themselves.

If you need a paper copy of the Permission to Administer Medicine in School Form or our full Medicines Policy, contact the office.

School Nurse & Health Checks

Our School Nurse visits regularly and is available to meet parents/carers by appointment. Pupils receive routine height, weight and dental checks at points during their primary years. We will inform you in advance where consent is required.

Asthma

Please inform the office if your child has asthma.

  • Inhalers are stored in clearly marked medical boxes in each classroom.
  • Label all inhalers with your child’s name.
  • Inhalers are always taken on school trips.
  • If your child has an Asthma Action Plan, please share the latest version with us.

Head Lice

Head lice are a common part of school life. Please check your child’s hair regularly. We recommend a preventative routine of wet‑combing with conditioner using a fine‑toothed comb (available from most pharmacies).

For practical guidance, see our Headlice Advice leaflet.

Illness or Injury During the School Day

If your child becomes unwell or has a significant accident during the day, we will:

  1. Make sure they are safe and cared for by a trained first aider; and
  2. Contact you as soon as possible.

We have many trained first aiders on staff. In an emergency, we will seek immediate medical assistance.

Keep Your Contact Details Up to Date

It is vital we have your current contact details, especially mobile numbers and emergency contacts, so that someone can collect your child if needed. Please update your details via the Arbor app.
