Y4 have PE on Wednesday. Children wear their complimentary Roby Park PE kit to school – white logo tshirt, navy joggers and jacket. In the warmer months, children may want to wear their burgundy shorts.
Children are allocated multiple books weekly on Rising Stars Reading Planet as well as a physical book which is changed weekly, linked to their stage of Reading. Physical books are changed every Monday. We expect children to read for 10 minutes every night and then to complete the end of book comprehension quiz online when they come to the end of their book. We had an amazing start the summer term with a day of play! The children discussed how they wanted to use the play equipment, focusing on potential risks & benefits before getting out & testing it for themselves. Lots of fun was had by all @OPAL_CIC #OPALSchools #RPPlay

Today we had lots of fun attending our first kin-ball competition. The children showed great team work and sportsmanship as they competed against other local schools, the children were amazing and even left with some medals!

We are raising money for NSPCC. We will be collecting £1 donations and children can wear clothes with numbers on or patterns. We will also be hosting a small cake sale after school, on the main playground
In PE our aim was to apply attacking skills to move towards goal and find space.
In Science, the children investigated how the volume of sound changes as they get further away from a sound source. They carried out this investigation by playing some music through a speaker and measuring the volume of sound using a decibel meter on the iPads #RPScience

What a fantastic experience the children had today getting time to spend with their friends on our school field in the snow
So much fun was had today in the snow All children enjoyed today, building snowmen and having snowball fights with their friends. A special shout out to Mr Lyon, Mr Couling & Mr Swatman who were the dream team moving the snow & making sure school was safe

Year 4 built their own torches out of a range of different materials We used the bottom of a plastic bottle to create the housing. Then we made the reflector out of the top half by wrapping it in tin foil. Finally, we had to add the electrical elements
Our Christmas Family Dining event is back this year but with a few changes. This year, parents and carers can choose the day they want to attend and book their whole family on together so siblings can sit together. Head to Parent Booking to reserve your seats.

We are taking part in CUT YOUR CARBON this November. Children will be coming home with checklists they can use to work as a family to cut carbon. Those who return their checklist will receive a certificate! @EcoSchools

What a fantastic first session Year 4 had with @ELITE_Swim_UK! The children started by building their confidence in the water by blowing bubbles and floating. They then moved on to looking at how to use the front crawl and breast stroke #RPPE
Tomorrow is our annual @RockKidzUK Day which will be teaching the children a positive message about mental health, self esteem and wellbeing, Children can come dressed as rock stars or if they do not want to dress up they can wear their own clothes or uniform.
Today in PE our aim was to develop control in performing and landing rotation jumps.
In music today with @JuniorJamHQ, the children were introduced to the different notes on a keyboard and how they can move/change fingers to play the different notes. We can’t wait to develop our keyboard skills

In English, Year 4 have been learning about newspaper reports. We learnt about how important research is for journalists. Due to this, the children worked collaboratively to research different marine mammals in preparation of writing their own newspaper report ??️ #RPEnglish

Year 4 were really proud to achieve their first forest school stamps of the year with @Littlefoothq ?? The children created paintbrushes from natural materials, tided a range of knots and built cairns #RPForestSchool #RPEnrichment

In science we investigated the effects different liquids have on teeth. We used our observation skills to record the effects different liquids had on eggs that had been soaked in a liquid for days. We then used a toothbrush to demonstrate the benefits of brushing.
Spanish day In Year 4 we learnt how to say the numbers from 10-20. To ask and respond to the questions, what is your name? How old are you? Where do you live? We then focused on the map of Spain, discussing the different regions and key cities #RPMFL
Drop Everything And Read ?? Today Year 4 dropped everything they were doing and enjoyed some reading for pleasure. #RPReading
The Romans have invaded Roby Park ?️?️ Year 4 had a fantastic workshop with @PastProductions where they learnt all about the Roman army, life in Ancient Rome and had the opportunity to explore a range of artefacts. #RPHistory #PastProductions
