22Today we had a special visit from @AlldaysFarm and had the chance to hold, pet, feed and brush a pony, sheep, goats, chickens, a chinchilla and even a snake! all the children were very brave and gentle with the all of the animals. Well done year 1? @CAHKnowsley #RPEnrichment
22FOREST SCHOOL ? We learnt how to do overhand knots, matched natural objects to colour swatches, practiced letters and numbers with rope and finally collected natural objects to make our very own magic wands! ??? #REEnrichment

26We worked together to recreate scenes from the book ‘Old Bear’, using what we have already read to show how the characters may be feeling and what they would be doing. We even rescued Old Bear from high up in the classroom and were very excited!?
27In English we have been immersing ourselves in our new book ‘Old Bear’. Various items had been left in our classroom for us to explore and we used these to help us to come up with some fastastic predictions about what could happen in our story!?

26SPANISH DAY Today was a day of all things Spanish! We learnt colours and numbers, played interactive games, matched colours with words, danced, sang, drew self portraits in the style of Picasso and even completed spanish colour by numbers! ? @LanguageAngels_ #RPSpanish

27A massive thank you to 4 times Olympic Medalist @BeckAdlington who visited us today to highlight the importance of learning how to swim. We were able to hold & see her medals and have the opportunity to ask lots of questions about the Olympics and also her swimming career ?
23We have been looking at animals in science and today we learnt that we can group animals based on their diet. We worked hard in groups to discuss what animals eat and to then identify which are carnivores, omnivore and which are herbivores ??? @DevelopExperts #RPScience

26We have been looking at animals in science that are both wild and those that are pets. We discussed these with our friends, grouped them and then worked collaboratively as a class to complete the interactive quiz on what we have been learning ??? #RPScience

27Our workshop with @AnimalsTakeOver today allowed us to meet and hold some of the animals we have been learning about in science -amphibians, birds, reptiles and mammals! We spoke about their habitats, diets and sleeping habits too!????? #RPScience #RPEnrichment
28In art we have been looking at different types of line, shapes and also colour. Starting with shape, we then moved onto lines and then combined our learning to create abstract art made up of overlapping shapes, colour and a variety of lines!

27For forest school with @Littfoothq we had to build structures that were strong enough to withstand challenges of Joe trying to knock them down. We discovered that the strongest towers aren’t always the tallest and need a really strong base! #RPEnrichment
19For our latest @SSCCTY meeting we discussed what ways we can be proud of our school and ourselves. We used our British values of respect and democracy to ensure that everybody had a say in our discussions before casting our votes! #RPBV #RPWellbeing
21In science we have been looking at materials. We began by identifying what material various objects were made out of before exploring different objects to work out the properties of different materials!
25As part of growing up week, we looked at a variety of activities, foods and drinks and then worked collaboratively to rate these from healthy for us, to unhealthy. We said that even though some things are unhealthy, it’s okay to have them sometimes! #RPGrowingUpWeek
25Thank you to our HSA & our staff for making Easter happen at Roby Park. They’ve collected Easter eggs & organised an Easter Egg Hunt that the children thoroughly enjoyed. Our Easter discos were a great success also & today there will be visitors to class with more egg surprises
34As part of growing up week we talked about where money came from. This lead us to discussing what we want to be when we grow up to earn money and then dressing up as this career! From footballers to doctors, ballerinas and vets – we all have high aspirations! #RPGrowingUpWeek

To launch all of our exciting new @OPAL_CIC resources, we are going to host a launch day this Mon for the chn. All chn need to come in to school wearing their PE kits and trainers, with their wellies also to keep in school. Children are only allowed on the field with wellies.

25Today we had our first KS1 Spanish extra-curricular club. With the help of Language Angels Lucy, we looked at the unit En la selva – learning animals, playing spot the wrong animal part & singing a song before doing some colouring! #RPExtraCurricular #RPSpanish
17To celebrate #StGeorgesDay2024 we had a visit from @PastProductions and St George himself who taught us lots about who he is. We turned ourselves into dragons that St George wanted to slay, went on treasure hunts and acted out key words linked to his story. #RPEnrichment
21In PE our aim was to develop power and speed in the sprinting technique.

24For this week’s DEAR time, we dropped everything and chose a book from our library to either read alone or share with a friend! We love reading in year 1 and especially enjoy exploring our library filled with books from a huge variety of genres!
18We had a wonderful morning spent with @Littlefoothq in forest school From identifying trees, compass points, bug hunts, camouflaging ourselves, fire lighting & knot practice, we had a very busy morning with lots of stamps towards our forest school badges! Well done year 1!

27Three of our year 1 children were awarded our Golden Broom Award this week for demonstrating an excellent attitude towards tidying up our resources and equipment ensuring it is well looked after and ready for the next children to use! Well done girls!

28We have begun looking at plants in science. We revisited what we already know and created a storyboard of how to plant seeds. We were then were able to plant our own using these…we don’t know what our seeds will grow into yet but we are excited to find out!
25We have been focusing on the end of our story ‘The Secret of Black Rock’ and considering how Erin may have felt when none of the adults believed her that Black Rock was a sea creature! We created freeze frames showing the characters feelings
17We were very lucky to have had a little surprise treat this morning…some time spent on year 6’s end of SATs inflatables! Happy faces all round – what a fantastic way to end the week. One of our children said “This has been my favourite day ever!”#RPEnrichment
25Our @SSCCTY meetings are pupil led and so this was a perfect chance to find out what they would like the reward to be for the house with the most house points and to share all of their ideas! Lots wanted bouncy castles but Taylor Swift and water parks were suggestions too!

25As part of the Million Steps Challenge, @cashforkidsliv teamed up with publisher Simon & Schuster to offer all participating primary schools the chance to win a Library Pack of 20 books. Following the end of the challenge all schools that signed up were put into a draw, and…we’re thrilled to let you know that our school is a winner! Books are on their way to us and will go into our reading shed for our children to enjoy

17Our final clubs of the school year go live at 9ma tomorrow. Head to Parent Booking to book your child on. Thanks to our incredible team who devote their time to putting on clubs. Without them, we wouldn’t have been able to offer 58 clubs with 900+ places taken up!
20We used sketchpad to insert text boxes to create a list of materials we would need to make a rocket we could then launch to be able to record the distances they travel in a spreadsheet. After this we created our rocket designs and used click and drag to label them!

17We have had a fantastic day at @Smithillsfarm today. Benji took us around and we were able to feed & meet the animals, watch the cows being milked, enjoy donkey rides & tractor rides to feed the animals! One of the children said “I’m having the best day ever!” #RPEnrichment

EYFS children should be collected from the Easton Road gate and KS1 & KS2 from their Western Avenue exits. All children and families should make their way around to Easton Rd for entry to the fair. All children are to be supervised by their adults.

Summer camp places can now be booked on Parent Pay. Sessions run from 9am – 3pm and cost just £12.50 per child, per day. Summer camp runs from Monday 22nd July – Friday 9th August. Children need to bring with them a coat, packed lunch, snack and water bottle.

7A huge thankyou to @MerPolKnowsley & @MerseyPolice who visited us for careers week this morning and told us all about their jobs and answered lots of questions for us! We were lucky enough to sit on their bikes, turn on the sirens and see what’s it’s like in the back of a van!

6We LOVED our visit from @MerPolMounted today for careers week! We learnt that you don’t already have to be a rider to become mounted police, how to become a mounted officer, how valuable horses are to the police force and what the best part of the officers job is! #RPCareersWeek

3We had such a great day at Laurel’s Wood today. We climbed trees, worked collaboratively and showed resilience while using a saw to cut bamboo to make necklaces, made a fire, toasted marshmallows & even had a go on the rope swing! #RPEnrichment
