Today in Year 6, we promoted the British Value of democracy through our smart school council session. Children were able to discuss what they would prefer to do with the extra day due to the leap year. The majority vote was to spend time with family and friends.

For #WorldWildlifeDay we learnt about oceans and waters. We located waters that surround the UK, created posters to stop plastic pollution and save our oceans before creating under water scenes with wax after seeing the amazing colours in oceans around the world!

We had a fantastic start to careers week with a visit from Rebecca Horn who is an independent psychosocial specialist who shared her work that she did with UNICEF and talented musician Chris Ellis who shared his experience of breaking into the music industry #RPCareersWeek
We have loved the start of our careers week. We have discussed lots of different careers and can’t wait to meet our visitors. We have explored our provision, becoming doctors, nurses, builders, archaeologists, firefighters and even scientists! #RPEnrichment
We started the week with a fantastic visit from @thekdclub. We explored how to get into a career of fashion and then had a go at creating our own designs! #RPCareersweek #RPEnrichment

For Day 2 of careers week, we were visited by different units of the @MerPolKnowsley who informed us of all they do for the community. We were also visited by @Knowsley_Leader who shared with the children the responsibilities he has as leader of the borough #RPCareersWeek
We had a visit from John who is a chef at @DavidLloydUK. He told us all about his career as a chef and what he enjoys cooking most! Nursery were very interested in finding out what the strangest thing John had cooked was… and also what ice cream he loves most! #RPCareers
Lastly we were joined by Gemma from @DavidLloydUK who is a personal trainer and children’s club entertainer. She told us all about the jobs she has at the gym and how she helps others. She taught us some exercises and stretches that we can do at home! #RPCareers #RPEnrichment
We then had a visit from Diane from Angels and Scallies @dically11. She told us all about her role in entertainment and hosting children’s parties! We then had a great time taking part in some dancing and party games! #RPCareers #RPEnrichment
We had a fantastic visit from @MerseyPolice @MerPolKnowsley They told us all about their jobs and let us sit on their motorbikes, in their van and have a look at some equipment! We definitely have some police officers in the making in Nursery! #RPCareers #RPEnrichment
Our final visit was from John, a chef at @DavidLloydUK. He told the children the best part of his job, the food he likes to cook and the strangest food he has eaten. Children loved sharing their ideas with John and the foods they enjoy. #RPEnrichment #RPCareers

Today we had a great visit from @RobertsRecycle who discussed the importance of recycling clothes and reducing the impact of fast fashion. They explained how they are a family run business and how important it is to them all.

We started the day with a visit from @LFCFoundation. We discussed the number of careers linked to football as well as how STEM can lead us into different jobs. We created mini rockets to practice our engineering skills.
We LOVED our visit from @MerPolMounted today for careers week! We learnt that you don’t already have to be a rider to become mounted police, how to become a mounted officer, how valuable horses are to the police force and what the best part of the officers job is! #RPCareersWeek

We had a fantastic visit from @MerPolMounted who told us all about their role in the police! We loved learning all about the importance of police horses and how they become police horses! We found out that they have to be very very tall, a lot taller than us! #RPCareers
Y2 loved meeting @MerPolMounted. The children had many great questions & we learnt how vets use teeth to find out the age of the horses. One child said, “I’d like to be a mounted police officer because they use horses to keep people safe & that must be rewarding.” #RPCareers

Today we had a fantastic visit from Dr Culshaw @The_ONR who is a Nuclear Safety Inspector. He brought along a decommissioned graphite core sample, which we all had the opportunity to look at and he told us all about the types nuclear fusion we use in the UK #RPCareersweek
This week’s @HelpPicture news related to individual liberty. We discussed the question ‘what makes a good friend?’ We think that a good friend is someone who is kind, plays with you and makes you laugh! We then shared some kind things that we like about our friends in class!

Today we came to school wearing our pyjamas to raise money for @BBCCiN and @timeforbeduk. We discussed the amazing work they do for children and families in the UK.
Today we celebrated Children in Need by raising money, wearing our comfy pyjamas to school and reading some of our favourite stories in relaxing places around the classroom.
This week it has been #antibullyingweek2024. We have focused on the theme of respect and how to respect others and solve conflicts appropriately. We loved the @cbbc live lesson where we created our own acrostic poems about respect. #respect #RPPSHE

Children have until Monday 16th December to take on some of their @JuniorDukeAward challenges and update their journals, ahead of their class Duke Meeting.
Please add photos/evidence of challenges and complete reflections.
All children must bring their journals in to school on Monday 16th December please.
Children will get their challenges signed off by their Duke Leaders and earn 10 points per challenge plus an additional 100 points when they have completed all 7 challenges. That is an incredible 170 points in total for them and their team!

This afternoon we had a session with @SRTRC_England about racism, what this looks like and what it feels like. We learned lots and had some great discussions too.
We had a fantastic session with @SRTRC_England. We learnt more about racism and discussed the effects this would have on people. We then worked collaboratively to create a poster to spread our anti-racism message #RPPSHE #RPEnrichment
Children can wear their Christmas jumper with their school uniform tomorrow for Christmas Jumper Day. Y1 & Y2 have Forest school so they can wear their Christmas jumper with appropriate clothing for Forest school. We will be collecting £1 donations for Save the Children. Thank you.

We held our @HelpPicture session about whether we should be allowed to build homes anywhere. Year 3 discussed and understood both sides of the question and answers included the importance of green space and nature, along with how everyone should be able to buy a home!
Picture News – This week Nursery have discussed what we love most about where we live. Daisy – I live next to a park. Louie – I love my house. Charlie – I live next to a train satiation. We also enjoyed talking about who we live with and what we like about our house!

This week our @HelpPicture assembly asked the question ‘What do you love most about where you live?’ Reception loved sharing why they love their house, such as liking their neighbours or living near their friends. We then designed our own houses, focusing on the different rooms
We discussed YouTube and what we enjoy watching or playing. Reception had some great things that they watch such as ‘Peppa Pig’, ‘Lucas the Spider’ and even ‘Everton at Goodison Park’! They love playing lots of games and listening to songs on YouTube too.
Our @HelpPicture assembly today had us talking all things YouTube! We discussed how we liked that we could use YouTube to watch things that make us laugh, to play games and also to learn. We think it would be good if YouTube had more on it that we could learn from #RPPHSE
In @JigsawEduGroup PSHE today, we looked at what we need to do to work well with a partner. We said that it is really important to listen, communicate and even sometimes compromise! We used this to then create a joint picture to show our goals! #RPPHSE
In our @HelpPicture session today, we discussed the limits on children’s media. We responded very maturely and acknowledged why rules are important for protecting children, especially online.

This week Y2 & Y3 were our attendance recognition winners and got the chance to move their class on our Classopoly board.
Mr Swatman said, “Well done to Noah and Harley who came to school, despite feeling a little under the weather, and trying really hard.”
Miss Sutton said, “Well done to the whole class who have been so inquisitive this week about waterfalls, rivers and mountains in our new English outcome, especially Poppy and Tilly who were so eager to find some extra interesting facts!”
