Induction arrangements for new children and families

Nursery & Reception Induction

When your child is allocated a place at Roby Park, we provide a full induction to ensure a calm, confident start.

What to expect

  • Parent Induction Meeting
Meet the teachers, see the classrooms and learn more about daily routines, the curriculum and how to support your child at home.
  • Private Day Nursery or Home Visits
Our Early Years staff visit each new child in their home setting or the nursery they currently attend, helping us get to know them in a familiar environment.
  • Induction Mornings
Nursery and Reception children attend short small‑group sessions with their new teacher to play, explore and settle so they feel secure and happy when term begins.
  • Teddy Bears’ Picnic
Children and parents are invited to a friendly get‑together to meet other new families and staff before starting school.

If you have any questions about the induction process, please contact the school office.

In‑Year Transfers (Joining Us Mid‑Year)

For children joining us during the school year, we offer a comprehensive induction for both parents and pupils.

Your induction will include

  • A tour of the school and classroom visits.
  • An opportunity to meet the Headteacher and your child’s class teacher.
  • A conversation about our expectations and your child’s needs – what they enjoy, any likes/dislikes and any educational, social or medical support required so we can plan the right provision from day one.

To arrange a visit or discuss availability in specific year groups, please contact the school office.
