PE and Sports Premium

Most primary schools receive either £16,000 + £10 per eligible pupil (for schools with 17+ eligible pupils) or £1,000 per pupil (for schools with 16 or fewer eligible pupils), with payments made in two instalments each year.
The DfE continues to fund the Premium and sets out clear guidance on how it should be used and reported (including website publication and a digital expenditure return).
The guidance also encourages schools to provide at least 2 hours of high‑quality PE each week and to support children to achieve an average of 60 minutes of daily physical activity.

PE and Sport Premium at Roby Park Primary School

We want every child to enjoy, achieve and stay active—regardless of background or ability. Our work focuses on high‑quality teaching, inclusive opportunities and building healthy habits for life.

• Our allocation for 2025–26: £17,750
• How we use it: professional development for staff, inclusive clubs and competitions, targeted small‑group support (e.g., swimming top‑ups), wider participation and enrichment and resources that broaden the range of activities on offer.
• Impact & accountability: we review progress half‑termly and publish an annual report on our website. We also complete the DfE digital expenditure reporting return each year, in line with current requirements.

How schools are held to account

Schools are responsible for deciding how to use the funding and must demonstrate impact. This includes:

• Publishing spending and impact on the school website by 31 July each academic year.
• Submitting the DfE digital expenditure report by the deadline set for that year.

 

What the funding can and cannot be used for (at a glance)

• Can be used for: additional and sustainable improvements e.g., staff CPD, widening the range of activities, targeted support for less‑active pupils and increasing participation in competitive sport.
• Cannot be used for: core PE curriculum costs or general capital projects; spending must meet DfE conditions of grant.

 

Our 2024–25 allocation

Roby Park Primary School’s 2024–25 PE and Sport Premium allocation is £17,660. Further information below explains how we are using the funding to raise standards and widen participation across PE, sport and physical activity.
