Our Nursery class is led by Miss Waters supported by our teaching assistants, Mrs Bomba Bennett and Miss Tomes.
Nursery have PE on Monday. Children wear their complimentary Roby Park PE kit to school – white logo tshirt, navy joggers and jacket. In the warmer months, children may want to wear their burgundy shorts.
Children are allocated multiple books weekly on Rising Stars Reading Planet as well as a physical book which is changed weekly, linked to their stage of Reading. Physical books are changed every Monday. We expect children to read for 10 minutes every night and then to complete the end of book comprehension quiz online when they come to the end of their book. You can access Reading Planet here.
We will soon be inviting parents in for ‘Reading is Fun’. Parents can come in at 11.30am every Wednesday and choose a book to take home and read with your child.
Children should share their nursery rhyme of the week with their parents every day. A copy of this can be found in your child’s book bag.

Congratulations to all of our learning heroes who we celebrated in our final celebration assembly of the 2024-25 academic year!
Our pupils know just how valuable every moment in school is! Leo W Y4 shared that missing school would’ve meant missing out on his reading assessments—he’s proud of the progress he’s made and didn’t want to lose that momentum. Meanwhile, Lyra Y1 has been loving her interactive Maths lessons, especially counting confidently to 100, and Oliver YR has been fully immersed in Rocket Phonics, soaring through his sounds and stories. Learning, laughter, and progress—it’s all happening right here, every single day! #missschool #missout

Please help yourselves to our pre-loved uniform that is outside each day
. We collected flowers and leaves to create pictures, then we used hammers to put a nail into a log. We finished the session making shapes with rope.
Picture News – We discussed what we love about music. Blossom – I dance to music. Alba – Michael Jackson, this is thriller. We also wrote a list of musical instruments, as well as voted to see what the most popular musical instrument is in our class.

Thank you again to @Tesco for providing us with funding for daily fruit and veg for our children to enjoy. This week Nursery have really enjoyed our topic of superheroes. Lots of us had fun painting ourselves as superheroes, we remembered to look in the mirror to select the colour we needed. We have also had a great time trying to save the characters from the ice!
Picture News – This week Nursery have discussed what we love most about where we live. Daisy – I live next to a park. Louie – I love my house. Charlie – I live next to a train satiation. We also enjoyed talking about who we live with and what we like about our house!

Christmas is not about what is under the tree but who is around it and we can’t wait for the children to return to tell us all about it. Rarely they mention gifts, they mention you. They share their cherished memories of pj days snuggled on the sofa watching movies and eating only chocolate or funny stories of things that happened with their loved ones

Over the last few weeks in Nursery we have been learning about bed time routines, some of us have ordered our bed time routine and discussed our favourite part. We have also been matching amounts to numerals using pegs!
Nursery absolutely loved their visit from Mrs Claus today! We all drew a picture of what we would like for Christmas and we listened to a story about Luca and Ella. We also enjoyed lots of singing and dancing!

Children have until Monday 16th December to take on some of their @JuniorDukeAward challenges and update their journals, ahead of their class Duke Meeting.

Children will get their challenges signed off by their Duke Leaders and earn 10 points per challenge plus an additional 100 points when they have completed all 7 challenges. That is an incredible 170 points in total for them and their team!

This week in Nursery, we completed our big write! We made a list of things our pet star needs to be able to get back up into the sky. We came up with some fantastic ideas such as a bed, a blanket, a dolly to play with and even another star incase it feels lonely!
Last week Nursery completed their big draw, as a class we all drew things our pet star needs to allow him to go back to the sky. We decided to make a list, we drew a plaster, bath, bed, blanket and a love heart!
Thank you to all of our grown ups for joining us for our night walk! Reception had a fantastic time spotting lots of stars and different lights in the sky. We especially loved ending our night with a lovely warm hot chocolate!

Congratulations to one of our pupils in Nursery for completing her Nano Duke Award. She has completed all seven of the challenges meaning she has received a certificate and a badge!
This week Nursery have been super busy painting their own pet stars from our new text ‘My Pet Star’. We used the paint to create an outline, we then painted our stars yellow not forgetting to add eyes and a smile!
Nursery and Reception enjoyed their very first scooter club! We have shown great listening skills by making sure we stayed on the track.

Today we wore odd socks to show support for #AntiBullyingWeek2024. We discussed ways we can show and receive respect and designed our own odd sock
Today Nursery celebrated #AntiBullyingWeek2024 by wearing odd socks. We all designed our own odd sock with different colours and patterns. #chooserespect
Something special happened this week in our Nursery garden! We found lots of clues in bags, we took them inside and opened them. We found a bath, bed, blanket, sunglasses, food and a torch. We had lots of questions about what they may be for?
Nursery have been so busy during half term! We worked on our speaking and listening skills by telling our friends what we have been up to. Lots of us went trick or treating for Halloween, some of us went to the park, the shops and even the beach.
Wow our free fruit has been exceptionally popular this week. The children have devoured:

48 oranges & 130 satsumas
14 pineapples
9 tins of apricots
8 boxes of plums and 8 boxes of blueberries
The feedback has been so positive and children are saying it is the favourite part of their day

Today we are coming together to support our local food bank. Children can bring in a donation and in return wear their own clothes. Thank you for your support
Tomorrow, we will be holding our Halloween discos. We will end the day, with our fabulous Halloween discos with Nursery and Reception enjoying their party from 2.00-3.00pm during the school day. Y1 & Y2 will have their disco at 3-4pm with Y3 – Y6 having their disco 4.15 – 5.15pm. All children can come to school in their Halloween costumes however these must be age appropriate. Frightening and gory costumes, masks and weapons are not allowed. If children do not want to dress up, they can come to school in party clothes or whatever they are most comfortable in. Nursery children who do not attend school in the afternoons but wish to come to the disco, are welcome to return to school at 2pm. The cost of the disco for Nursery – Y2 children is £3.00 and includes a small packet of sweets, crisps and a drink. The cost of the disco for Y3 – Y6 is £3.00 and children get a chip cone and they can bring extra money to buy sweets, drinks and crisps. There is also limited glow items. The disco must be paid for on Parent Pay by 3.00pm tomorrow. Tickets are live on Parent Pay now. All children in Nursery – Y2 should be picked up from their classroom door at the end of their discos. KS2 children should be collected from the main playground by an adult at 5.15pm. KS2 children must be brought to school for the disco by an adult and the adult must wait for children to have gone through the double red doors before leaving then collecting them at 5.15pm. Staff are not responsible for children until they are in the disco.

We are excited to be hosting an inspirational workshop with European Champion Boxer, Chloe Watson. Chloe needs your help to raise funds for vital training, medical and competition costs. This money raised will also help our school and we will be using monies raised to put towards OPAL.

During ADHD Awareness month, we would like to share another photo of our @ADHDFoundation
Umbrella Project. From the ADHD foundation website: The Neurodiversity Umbrella Project is an uplifting visual representation of all the different minds we have here in the UK. Every Umbrella Project installation helps to raise awareness and understanding of neurodiversity. Thousands of colourful umbrellas are strung together over public spaces, in schools, and in company buildings around the nation. Each display is designed to represent the one in five of us who have a neurodevelopmental condition, such as ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia or Tourette’s syndrome. Over the past week Nursery have been sorting the leaves they collected by colour. Nursery explored each leaf to see what colours they could see. Together we created a ‘Big Draw’ using the Leaf Man book to help identify each animal the Leaf Man passed when travelling.
In PE our aim was to show awareness of others when working in a space. Well done nursery!
This morning in Nursery, something happened. We found a Leaf Man hiding in our garden. We all went to have a look at it and decided to bring it inside. To get it warm we used a blanket and discussed how Leaf Man might have got here and where it might have come from.
In PE Nursery have really enjoyed learning how to move in different ways and working on their listening skills.
This week in Nursery we have been learning all about ourselves and our families. We have used the materials from the transient art and crazy creations areas to make people in our families or ourselves!

Nursery have had an amazing day celebrating European Language Day. We painted and coloured in the Spanish flag, we have watched Spanish dancing and sang head, shoulders, knees and toes in Spanish! We even learnt how to say a few Spanish words!

We had a fantastic last session of the year with @Littlefoothq. We collaboratively built shelters for our snakes, practised our rope skills, created a huge potion of beautiful flowers, and ended the session enjoying some popcorn together! We love Forest School! #RPEnrichment

This week’s @HelpPicture news related to individual liberty. We discussed the question ‘what makes a good friend?’ We think that a good friend is someone who is kind, plays with you and makes you laugh! We then shared some kind things that we like about our friends in class!
Playtimes have never been so good! We have made the most of the sunshine at playtimes and our opal after school clubs! #OPALSchools
We had a fantastic visit from @MerPolMounted who told us all about their role in the police! We loved learning all about the importance of police horses and how they become police horses! We found out that they have to be very very tall, a lot taller than us! #RPCareers
We had a fantastic visit from @MerseyPolice @MerPolKnowsley They told us all about their jobs and let us sit on their motorbikes, in their van and have a look at some equipment! We definitely have some police officers in the making in Nursery! #RPCareers #RPEnrichment
We then had a visit from Diane from Angels and Scallies @dically11. She told us all about her role in entertainment and hosting children’s parties! We then had a great time taking part in some dancing and party games! #RPCareers #RPEnrichment
Lastly we were joined by Gemma from @DavidLloydUK who is a personal trainer and children’s club entertainer. She told us all about the jobs she has at the gym and how she helps others. She taught us some exercises and stretches that we can do at home! #RPCareers #RPEnrichment
We had a visit from John who is a chef at @DavidLloydUK. He told us all about his career as a chef and what he enjoys cooking most! Nursery were very interested in finding out what the strangest thing John had cooked was… and also what ice cream he loves most! #RPCareers
We have loved the start of our careers week. We have discussed lots of different careers and can’t wait to meet our visitors. We have explored our provision, becoming doctors, nurses, builders, archaeologists, firefighters and even scientists! #RPEnrichment

Nursery had the best time at @FarmerTedsFarm. We visited lots of animals, stroked some guinea pigs, took part in some pony grooming, met lots of minibeasts and enjoyed a tractor ride to see some dinosaurs! We ended the day with a play in the play area! #RPEnrichment

As part of the Million Steps Challenge, @cashforkidsliv teamed up with publisher Simon & Schuster to offer all participating primary schools the chance to win a Library Pack of 20 books. Nursery have been fantastic at retelling the story of ‘The Snail and the Whale’. They have used lots of new vocabulary and were able to remember lots of key parts of the story! #RPEnglish
Please make sure children are wearing factor 50 sun cream when the weather is predicted to be hot. Please leave jumpers/cardigans off. Children need a water bottle to stay hydrated & a hat to protect them from the sun. Children will be encouraged to play in shaded areas

After learning about the Easter story and discussing the importance of the cross, we sang our nursery rhyme of the week, ‘Hot Cross Buns’. We then tasted some yummy hot cross buns… we thought they were delicious!
Thank you to our HSA & our staff for making Easter happen at Roby Park. They’ve collected Easter eggs & organised an Easter Egg Hunt that the children thoroughly enjoyed. Our Easter discos were a great success also & today there will be visitors to class with more egg surprises
Today we had a special visit from the Easter Bunny and Easter Chick! They took us on a very exciting Easter egg hunt around the school grounds! We followed all of the clues and found our way to some yummy Easter eggs! #RPEnrichment
Today we had a great session with @Littlefoothq. We learnt how to make a raft for our insect friends to float on. We placed it in a large puddle that we found and used bark from the trees for the insects to eat! We ended the session by safely warming our hands on our campfire
We had a fantastic last session! We worked with partners to plant some pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. The children have been fantastic this half term and have loved gardening club with Mr Lyon! We can’t wait to see it all begin to grow!

Today in PE our theme was superheroes, the aim of the lesson was to work with others co-operatively and play as a group. Well done nursery.
Today we dressed up as superheroes and trained to be a superhero on our obstacle course! We had some fantastic superheroes including Hulk, Iron Man and a paramedic! We ended the day with an ice cream to celebrate our hard work as superheroes! #RPEnrichment
For our final craft club session we created our own mini-me superheroes!

We are raising money for NSPCC. We will be collecting £1 donations and children can wear clothes with numbers on or patterns. We will also be hosting a small cake sale after school, on the main playground
Nursery have had a great forest school session today with @Littlefoothq. We went on a snake hunt and then worked collaboratively to build houses for the snakes. We then practised our rope skills and ended the day with some hammock fun! Well done, Nursery #RPEnrichment
This week Nursery and Reception worked collaboratively to create this amazing superhero city! They all worked very hard and supported each other. They made sure to include people, towers, trees, vehicles and obviously some superheroes!

Just look at the smiles! The children loved exploring the snow today. We made snow angels, snowmen and especially loved throwing snowballs at the teachers! It was so lovely to see the children enjoying themselves with their friends!

We are all really enjoying playtimes with our new role play area as well as scooting and lots more area’s to get creative to make playtime more fun for all!

What a fantastic night for our EYFS Star Gazing Night Walk We spotted lots of stars in the sky, the moon and even Jupiter! The children loved exploring forest school in the dark and we discussed what we found. We ended the night with a lovely hot chocolate #RPEnrichment

This week we went on a hunt to find some clues relating to our new story… We found glitter trails leading to bags containing clues in our outdoor area! We found a plaster, a cookie, a torch, a bed and a bath. We wonder what our new story could be #RPEnglish

Tomorrow is our annual @RockKidzUK Day which will be teaching the children a positive message about mental health, self esteem and wellbeing, Children can come dressed as rock stars or if they do not want to dress up they can wear their own clothes or uniform.
